Abdelrahman, AI Sports partner, attended the fifth edition of the Global Football Scouting Tournament which is held annually in the month of December in Nigeria. Working closely with the organizers of the tournament, AI Sports was able to bring along guests from Belgian giants KVC Westerlo for the second tournament in a row. Having attended December 2023 with their youth academy head of scouting, Patrick Kempeneers, this edition Patrick was joined by the technical director of the youth academy, Dario Antico. Also in attendance was a former player of Abdelrahman who played for him in Dubai, Togolese football administrator Radjab Alidou.
The scouting event took place over four days, with the fifth day being a training session run by Patrick and Dario. The guests from Belgium were highly impressed with the technical qualities of the players they saw during the tournament. Speaking on what he saw at the tournament, Abdelrahman had this to say “The quality compared to last season has really increased, especially in Valiant FC, the team that has hosted us for this tournament. I was happy to see that the quality is across all ages from as young as 14 all the way to 20/21 years old. The other teams who competed also had some quality players. I am looking forward to working closely with the selected players and supporting Westerlo in their quest to uncover the next top youth talents from Africa.”
